INTRODUCTION OF STATISTICS
• What is Statistics?
No one knows the actual origin of the word “statistics”.
According to a different view, it says that statistics is originated from the Latin word ‘status’.
Or its origin in the Italian word ‘statista’ Or from German word ‘statistik’ which was later changed to statistics and also even some claim it is from French word ‘statistique’
The definition of Statistics states that it can be defined in singular and plural sense.
• When defined in Plural sense–It is a methods of collecting, organizing and analyzing data whether qualitative or quantitative in such a way that meaningful conclusions can be drawn from them.
• When defined in Singular sense – It is a method of a scientific discipline that uses mathematical tools to make forecasts and projections by analyzing the given data also known as infernal statistics.
Application of Statistics:-
Every field where you need to understand and analyze data is an application of statistics. That’s why we will limit ourselves to the only field related to commerce i.e. Economics, Business Management and Commerce and Industry.
